Enact — The Canadian National Online Public Library Act
to de-privatize and democratize the online media access industry

Please sign this petition. This comes from a perspective that the  media production industry, the online media access industry, and the media advertising industry can be viewed as separate industries.

WHEREAS as a result of passing an Act of Parliament to found The Canadian National Online Public Library, this new online public service is expected to:

— raise the opportunity for all Canadians to access the best online content,

— create good jobs for workers in the news and entertainment production industry,

— lower the opportunity to buy third party advertising,

— raise the opportunity for the free market to work naturally,

— raise the level of education,

— lower the cost of education,

— raise the standard of living,

— lower the cost of living,

— strengthen democracy,

— reverse the expansion of the wealth gap, and

— eliminate copyright piracy online.

— We, the undersigned citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to enact:

1. Legislation to create a National Online Public Library that meters out media content to users on request and that automatically pays content owners 30 days after their content is used.

2. Legislation to give the content users the right to block those automatic payments their own use has triggered, in the event that they deem the content to be inappropriate or unworthy and not meriting public support.

3. Legislation banning third party advertising from The Canadian National Online Public Library but still permitting third party advertising on non-public platforms.

4. Legislation that will state that The Canadian National Online Public Library will be financed with public funds and it will not be wholly or partially funded with revenue from the media advertising industry.
