The Public Media Revolution

Excerpt from a LETTER FROM BIRMINGHAM JAIL
 April 16, 1963

“MY DEAR FELLOW CLERGYMEN:”

“I am sure that none of you would want to rest content with the superficial kind of social analysis that deals merely with effects and does not grapple with underlying causes.”

“Yours for the cause of Peace and Brotherhood, “
Martin Luther King, Jr.

No Ads Canada’s analysis concludes that one of the gravest mistakes of the 20th Century was for everyone to assume that is was good and necessary to fund our mass media by selling advertising. This created a huge avenue for the wealthy to spread vast lies for the purpose of enriching themselves.

We can make a peaceful revolution happen that will change democracy for ever. We can do this by creating a Big Public Media so big, so diverse, and so robust that it will totally displace the marketing-led media of today. No Ads Canada’s  advocacy is focused on passing into law in the Canadian Parliament, The Canada Streaming Media Act.  — An act stating that the Canadian Government will fund ad-free streaming media content for all Canadians.
